NGARTO Syrah Viognier 2019

A blend that makes us proud. - Erinn Klein, Winemaker

NGARTO is a collaboration wine between Ngeringa winemaker Erinn Klein and Sydney based chef  and good friend Brendan Cato. It is a playful biodynamic wine from Syrah and Viognier grapes, made in the style of a northern Rhône wine region of France.

The NGARTO Syrah Viognier 2019 has a vibrant fruit driven nose lifted by the aromatics of the Viognier.  The palate is alive with red berries & blood plum fruit, spice and liquorice. This syrah viognier blend has very approachable tannins and is perfect to drink  now.

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Planted on a westerly facing slope on the immediate foothills of the Mt Barker Summit at 420m altitude, the soil of the Iluma vineyard sparkles with micaceous schist amidst a shallow sandy loam over clay. A challenging viticultural site with the potential for very distinctive wines.

” 94 Points. Syrah viognier blend through the lens of natural winemaking and growing. Biodynamic (certified) vines. Winemaking and decision making by Erinn Klein (Ngeringa) and Brendan Cato (Carto Wines).

Slurpy red of medium to fuller weight with lithe tannin weave and bright, crisp acidity. Lovely, floral and dark fruited perfume, game meat notes, dusted with spice, slightly peppery and dried herby. Similar to taste, more game meaty in the nicest way, sits long and lithe in the palate with great finishing grip and pucker. That texture is great. All parts married well here, feels serious, detailed and yet fun to drink. Winning combo. Like this a lot. – Mike Bennie, The Wine Front (September 2020)
