Rosé 2009

Roses, citrus blossom perfume, peaches and cream on the nose.  On the palate, nectarine, mandarin and persimmon fruits.  A soft creamy yet textured wine with a deliciously silky mouth feel and a tight dry finish.

For the first time, we have included almost 15% Sangiovese in the blend bringing further length and balance to the palate.  Half the juice is a saigne taken from the Syrah/Sangiovese fermenters 12 hours or so after destemming.  The balance is from Syrah fruit especially picked for the Rosè and pressed like we would our white wines.  As usual, our Rosè is fermented naturally in old French oak barrels and matured therein for 6 months.  Bottled for the first time in clear glass.

NICK STOCK
Penguin Wine Guide 2010
91 points. Terrific partridge-eye colour and great fragrance, very fresh adn lifted with a superb red fruit flavour here;  there's a gently creamy note too, strawberry and raspberry.  Great shape and the palate is well and truly in the dry spectrum, more strawberry here too, and a bright, clean and flavoursome finish.

CAMPBELL MATTINSON
91 Points.  Ngeringa's Rose is mostly made with syrah, though this year 15 percent sangiovese has been included. Can only be a good idea.
Interesting rose. Dramatically citrussy. Limes and mandarines. Notes of fennel and earth too. Nice texture and lovely sense of savouriness, despite it robust, fruity appeal. Onion-orange in colour. Excellent power. Quality rose.
